The Penguin Hide-Out (Main House)

Tucked away on Stony Point, The Penguin Hide-Out is a welcoming double-story holiday home just a short stroll from the local African penguin colony. A footpath near the house winds along the shoreline, leading you to the old whaling station where these charming birds chose their nesting site – a delight for nature lovers of all ages.

Set in a spacious, fully fenced garden, the home offers large lawns at the front and back, providing a safe and sunny space for children to run, play ball games, or simply enjoy the outdoors.

Inside, the ground floor features four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Three bedrooms are furnished with double beds, while the fourth has a single bed – ideal for a child – and direct access to the garden. The first three bedrooms share a family bathroom with a bath and toilet. The fourth bedroom includes its own kitchenette and en-suite bathroom (with shower and toilet), plus a private garden deck area perfect for morning coffee in the fresh sea air.

A staircase made from reclaimed railway sleepers add a rustic touch and leads to the heart of the home – a bright, open-plan living area with a kitchen, dining room, and lounge. To the side of the living room is a large, low-set fireplace, great for making a potjie when the wind picks up and braaiing outdoors isn’t an option.

The kitchen is well-equipped with a gas stove and oven, a generous island for meal prep, and everything you need to create memorable family feasts. Comfortable, daybed-style couches in the lounge invite you to relax and take in the partial sea view. Double doors open fully onto a spacious balcony with a built-in braai and outdoor dining table – perfect for lazy summer meals with the ocean close by.
